FAQ

Answers to common questions about methodology, usability, and impact.

The gap in accessibility data is not a minor inconvenience, but a painful daily reality for millions of people. Right now, a wheelchair user planning a journey has no reliable way of gaining crucial end-to-end knowledge on the route ahead – whether there's cobblestone that causes chronic pain, where the lowered kerb is, or whether there's an obstacle that ends their trip altogether. They find out when they get there. Wheels4Wheels puts that information on the map before they leave the house. In Tallinn alone, streets that looked perfectly navigable on existing maps were found on the ground to be impassable for wheelchair users. That is the gap this project fills, and it fills it using data that is already being collected every day.
